Goodbye Simon Grayson

About a month and a half ago I wrote a blog asking wheater Simon Grayson had achieved all he could in Leeds, today I got my answer - Yes he has.

Today Ken Bates decided that enough was enough, and just like I predicted after the Burnley game he waited till the transfer window was closed - Terrible window btw, lost our Captain and signed an american nobody and a league 1 loanee - Makes me wonder if I have been right all along about Bates not trusting Simon Grayson on the transfer market?

Simon joined us after being quite succesfull at Blackpool, and even dropped a division to take charge of his favorite club, so the fans loved him from the first minute. In his first full season (2009/10) in charge of Leeds United he delivered what we all wanted when we were finally promoted after three terrible years in League 1. Along with the promotion he also delivered a FA Cup adventure, who can forget the FANTASTIC 1-0 win at Old Trafford against the much hated Manchester United and also the 2-2 draw at White Hart Lane against Spurs.

Our first season in the Championsship was also pretty decent even if a late drop in form cost us the top-6 spot we'd had almost all season long - So everybody expected this to be our year, I am pretty sure Simon did to, but it just wasn't to be - we give to many goals away, loose to many stupid points and haven't been able to attract the players you would expect Leeds United to attract, this is not only Simons fault, Ken Bates holds a big part of the blame in this as well of course.

So Simon leaves us now, we're in 10th place "just" three points away from the play offs, and hopefully a new manger can give us the boost we need to get Leeds United up where we all feel we belong, if not this season then next year...

A new manager now will be able to look at the team and the youngsters for the reminder of this season and then he'll have the longer transfer window in the summer to be able to create the team he wants (If Bates allows him to spent that is). So hopefully this will end up being a good thing for the whole of Leeds United even if it hurts for us to see another Leeds fan leave the club.

Marching On Together Larry - we'll always have January 3rd and the promotion!
